The Director/Writer of "Love Actually"




The director and writer of “Love Actually” is Richard Curtis who was born on November 8, 1956 in New Zealand. “He began writing comedy after leaving Oxford University in 1978. His first job on television was writing all four seasons of the BBC's Not the Nine O'clock news” (Filmbug). Curtis continued to write comedies and “In December 1993, he was given the Lifetime Achievement Award from the writers Guild of Great Britain” (Filmbug). Richard Curtis is an amazing writer that has definitely made a name for himself in Great Britain. He went on to write for more major movies like “Four weddings and a Funeral,” “Notting hill,” and “Bridget Jones's Diary.” He then branched out and became the director/writer of “Love Actually.” Curtis has really made a name for himself and was given the most amazing award for his hard work. As a writer on “The Girl in the Cafe,” he “received three Emmy Awards in 2006, 'including Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic special and Outstanding more for television movie” (Filmbug). Curtis is now the “Commander of the Order of the British Empire” and has really made something out of his life.
